Hello Everyone!
I haven't posted in a while as life has been a bit crazy on my end! I visited a new doctor today in Indianapolis for my MC. He sat and talked with me for probably 45 minutes and wanted lots of details......I was soo surprised as my current gastro doc usually spends about 5 min.....on a good day

Anyway, this doctor is an MD but takes a more holistic approach. He specializes in treating allergies and autoimmune diseases. He's very interested in my history, especially concerning my thyroid, when and how much antibiotics I have taken in the past and the timing of it all. He believes that certain antibiotics can trigger such things as colitis. Not that it really matters but it would be nice to know what has brought this on. He is big into diet and after looking at my Enterolab results agrees I should stay away from gluten, soy and dairy. He also prescribed a specific probiotic and another diet supplement called GI-Revive which is a natural supplement that is soothing and healing to the gut. Here's the very interesting thing I have not seen talked about on this forum, he does an "Amino Acid Therapy". From what I can understand, it's basically injections of amino acids that block the attack of one's own healthy bacteria, very simple explanation I know........I am by no means a doctor so probably didn't explain it very well. My head is swimming from all the new info he threw at me today! He is one of only 20 doctors in the country that does this therapy and these 20 doctors have treated about 100,000 patients with this particular therapy. After about a year or so of injections your system stops fighting itself and immune system health is restored. Sooo.............has anyone heard of it?? Used it??? Know anything at all about it?? I will not know if I am a candidate for this therapy until after a lab in Spain receives my blood and does their testing on it, my doctor then collaborates with a doctor in Spain and they decide if I am a good candidate for this therapy. He also wants a full blood work done here (from a lab of my choice) and a complete stool testing. With this information we will be able to start a treatment while we wait on the results from Spain which can take 3-4 months. He really wants to have as much info from every angle to get the full picture of what is going on..........seems very thorough and REALLY wants me off the Entocort as he feels it's not good for me at all! So, I am cautiously excited about a possible therapy other than the Entocort!! Any feedback would be greatly appreciated!
Love this group and thanks in advance for any of your input!
Kim
