Paging Charlotte

Post by Polly »

Hi Charlotte!

It was good to see an update from you. What a bummer about the flare, but good news that the Entocort still works and that you are making progress.

It amazes me how much effect stress can have on our disease. And moving definitely ranks up there at the top of the stress scale. I believe Zizzle recently moved and had a worsening of her MC, too. I think, as a group, we MCers tend to send all of our stress directly to our gut. I know it's true for me. The million dollar question is .......how can we relearn stress mamagement? Since childhood I have always gotten D when nervous, so the patterns are really ingrained. Of course, I guess it's better to take stress out on our guts rather than our hearts, like most people do. So far the only thing I have found that helps is to take one or 2 Imodium a day during stressful times.

Anyway, good to hear from you! And congrats on your new house.

Love,

Polly

Polly, I forgot to mention that I did start out with Imodium, and then Balsalazide, and then Entocort.

The end of May the aprcots on our apricot tree at the condo were ripe and I had a few of them because I know that too many can give me D. At our new house we have a lemon tree, a grapefruit tree, and three orange trees. There was only one orange tree that had fruit left on it while we were doing the renovation. One Saturday I picked four and pealed them for guests while we sat on the patio. They ate one and I ended up eating three oranges. That's when the D started. I thought it was from the oranges and thought it would pass. When it didn't I started taking the Imodium. Looking back I know that it really was due to the stress of the move. The oranges just pushed me over the fence.

Charlotte,

I'm sorry to hear about the oranges - and I think you raise an important point. Sometimes there's a true culprit amongst the foods, and at other times there's a bunch of stuff going on, and something we eat is just the last straw. So maybe in a less stressful time, you could have an orange (or 3)... maybe if you had only had one... it's too complicated to turn into a formula.

I hope you're well settled in, and congratulations on the move. It sounds lovely.
