A new study links celiac and MC, especially among middle aged women, but I'm not too moved about the study outcomes (yawn). Nothing we don't already know. But hopefully some docs will take notice.
Had they looked for gluten intolerance and not simply confirmed celiac, the association would have been much stronger.

That was a pretty simple "research" project, so it's no wonder that they didn't come up with any earth-shaking conclusions. All they did was to look at 5 years worth of data from the Calgary Health Region, and noted the number of patients diagnosed with CD, who also had MC.
Not a very creative project - it's been done before, probably several times, (using different databases), over the years, with very similar results. Why don't "researchers" actually research any more? They did the same thing that you and I do every day - scan databases on a computer, looking for information that has already been recorded. You would think that if they wanted to earn the title of "researcher", the least they could do is come up with a project that shows a little originality.

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.
