I Had A Phone Call From Shirley

Post by tex »

Hi All,

Most of us have probably noticed that Shirley hasn't been posting, lately. I was hoping that she was just busy, but she called me this morning to report that she lives in that area in Pennsylvania that had the record flooding, and so not only was her bridge washed away, (along with many other bridges in that area), but her phone service is still out, (so she doesn't have any way to connect to the internet), and her basement was flooded, so she's afraid to turn on the furnace, until it can be checked out. Fortunately, she still has cell phone service, and they still have electricity and water, so she and her mother are OK.

That bridge was her only way out, but fortunately, she's been able to hire a bulldozer to make a temporary crossing, so that she can get out for supplies.

She said that she considers herself lucky, that she didn't have any worse damage, because a lot of homes were flooded, and there was a lot of damage, all around.

I'm glad to hear that she and her mother are safe.

Tex,

Thanks for letting us know - that is concerning, but it sounds as though she's on her way to getting things restored. What a year for weather! Stay safe, all...

Love,

I'm glad she called you to let you know. She's had quite a year, with flooding in the house in Florida, too, if I remember correctly.

I thought I had a bad day and my situation was crap, but reading this about Shirley, that must be really hard to deal with it. I hope the situation will improve soon and I will keep her in mind in my prayers and lets hope she will be active here soon again.

Thanks for the update Tex. I thought she lived in that area and it was hit really hard.

Love, Maggie
