I started the diet about a month ago and cant believe how GREAT I feel. Is there anyone on here who is on this diet? Thanks Robin

Hi Robin,

Welcome to the board. A lot of members here have tried the SCD, but I'm not aware of anyone who is successfully following it without making at least one major change - cutting out all dairy products. The SCD allows casein, (yogurt, cheese, etc.,), and most of us are sensitive to casein, (not just the lactose in milk).

Here are some old threads where it was discussed, listed by age, with the oldest threads first:

Not 100% of us are sensitive to casein, so the possibility certainly exists that you may not be sensitive to casein, and if that's the case, your remission will probably continue. If/when your symptoms begin to return, though, you can probably eliminate them by cutting all dairy products out of your diet, (while continuing to avoid gluten, of course).

Again, welcome aboard, and please feel free to ask anything.

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.

Hi Tex, Thank you for responding to me.

I am lactose intolerant also and yogurt kills me! I take probotics and only cook with yogurt only. I find that raw fruit sometimes bothers me so I either use frozen or cooked fruits. But other than that the diet seems to be working. I have only been on it a month so only time will tell.

Even though I have newly been given the Dx of MC. I have had this problem for many years and was always been able to get back to normal (what ever that is)! At the beginning of this year I started with all the problems and trying everything made it worse. After many embarrassing moments I decided to finally go to a gastro.....I am very glad I did!

Thanks again,
Regards
Robin
