Leaving for Utah tomorrow

Post by Gloria »

I'll be visiting DD#2 in Utah for a week beginning tomorrow. I'll probably have time to read, but not post.

I hope there are still some leaves on my trees and flowers in my garden when I come back.

Enjoy your visit. Surely the weather won't make any drastic changes in a week, though I do seem to recall that we're supposed to get a norther next week. Maybe it will just cool things down a little, and it will spare your trees and flowers.

Gloria,

Have a wonderful trip - travel safe, and enjoy the seasonal flux... we are still not seeing the major foliage change here, but feeling it in the air... and in the rain (speaking of rain, Tex - I believe I owe you a couple of inches!).

My fall flower explosion is STILL going strong, though it's meant to be contrasting with the foliage color we haven't yet seen...

Bon voyage,

Sara

Wishing you a great, flare free trip Gloria - enjoy your family!!! The foliage is peaking here in Denver right now - it's wonderful.

Love,
Kari

Thanks everyone! I should post a picture of the gorgeous sugar maples in front of my house. That's what I'm going to miss seeing. Utah doesn't really have them, though they do have pretty yellow birch trees.

No, I'm flying. When DH retires next year we may drive. It's a 1400 mile trip each way and he'd have to take too many days off. We've only taken day trips in the car so far. We haven't used the microwave in it yet, but we have used the freezer and crockpots. I still hope we can go somewhere before the snow and bad weather gets here.

I'm noticing that my food suitcase has fewer items this trip now that I'm not eating rice, quinoa or bread anymore. It's amazing to me how I've been able to adjust to each food elimination. I'm planning on eating turkey with an avocado, wrapped in a almond-corn tortilla for the flight home. That worked well the last time. I packed half an avocado, scooped out the pulp while on the plane, and put it on top of the sliced turkey and tortilla. The passenger sitting next to me was pretty amazed. The tortilla tends to fall apart when it's cold, but it's still edible. If I'm still hungry, I eat corn chips for a snack.

I need to finish packing - I'll be posting if I can!

Have a good time, Gloria! I assume you are going to Salt Lake City? I have a friend who just moved to Park City. Utah has some breath-taking beauty, especially Zion National Park, although it is different beauty than those of us who live in the verdant areas are used to. God is an amazingly diverse Creator.

We are having a wonderful fall here in the Pacific Northwest. The early-turning trees are already leafless, but others are about half in color,. and there has been enough rain to green-up the grass. I am hoping with you that you still have some fall color at your house when you return!
