LYMPOCYTIC COLITIS- 4 YEARS NEED SUGGESTIONS

Post by TIFFANYBOYDS »

Hi, I have had watery stools for 4 years now. It started after my son was born (actually the first day after that I had a bowel movement) I am now 30 years old. The first 2 years I just thought my body was just readjusting but, I went to the GI doctor 2 years ago and he did a colonoscopy and endoscopy that revealed Lymphocytic colitis but, not celiac disease. I was put on lialda for several months with no results. It got progressively worse and was going to the BR about 15-20 times a day. This summer I went to the allergy doctor and found I had an intolerance to corn (severe enough that even meat that is fed corn will bother me) and I am allergic to milk. I went through a elimination diet (only grass fed lamb and rice for 14 days) it made the symptoms reduce to 2-3 times a day. After I started adding items back the first item was asparagus- when I ate only lamb and asparagus I started to see solid forming but it didn't last and the allergy doctor sent me back to the GI- who is putting me on entocort (getting it from Canada because of the expense). Any suggestions?

Welcome!

I love lamb and I love asparagus, but I bet that restricted diet got tedious. Not as tedious as the symptoms though...

You're in the right place - and you will get your life back. There are some important differences between food allergy tests and the kind of tests that can help us figure out what to eat (and I also have to run, but promise if another wise member hasn't had time, I'll be back to say more about this, a little later). So it's possible that you're on the right track, looking for suspect foods, but haven't hit the jackpot yet (obviously through no fault of your own - I have no doubt you have been working hard to solve this).

Here's a link to the newbie info section - http://www.perskyfarms.com/phpBB2/viewforum.php?f=12 - or you can sometimes get a lot out of just following the conversations in the Main Message Board, which have a lot of daily activity.

Four years is a long time - but you are young and I'm sure very committed to turning this beast around. So I'm betting you will - let us know how we can help.

All my best,

Sara
