Time for an Update...and a Few Photos

Post by Joefnh »

Well it's fall and the foliage colors this year were a mixture of very nice earth tones and a few bright reds. Every year the foliage is a bit different and is controlled by the temperature swings and humidity.

It's been a year since I started the Imuran treatment and am doing quite well with both the MC and the Crohns. The surgery for the crohns was no fun but did remove the area of the small intestine that was damaged by the crohns prior to starting treatment

I would like to say thanks to everyone here for all of the incredible knowledge and support, and thanks to Gabes for putting up with my endless cooking questions.

Just the other weekend I took Nestlé to lake Massabesic in New Hampshire for a day of hiking and photography. I have a few photos I thought you guys might like to see.

Here is Nestlé enjoying a shallow puddle across the trail, she loves to get wet.

There were a few photo opportunities like this one that made some great pictures

Now here is a small gardner snake that Nestlé encountered and her actions were a good sign. As soon as she saw this harmless snake she immediately backed up and stayed a good 8 feet away. This was good to see as I am still looking to live in Australia and have been looking for an engineering position in the Brisbane area which does have several snakes that are very poisonous.

Now it was almost impossible to keep Nestlé from jumping in and trying to get to this duck. It turned out to be the perfect picture of a Canadian mallard. This time of year they are flying south for the warmer climates and stop at the various lakes and ponds along the way for a break before continuing south.

At the end of the day nestle had jumped into the lake several times and had a great time. One of the best lessons our furry friends can teach us is how to just live in the moment and enjoy life. The special times are just those random moments like these that we can enjoy as they come, if we are wiling to slow down just enough to enjoy them.

Thanks again to everyone here for all of your help and encouragement, Tex you are absolutely right when you say you can and will get your life back.

My sincerest thanks to everyone here.

What beautiful pictures of gorgeous Vermont! Thank you for sharing them and congratulations on your good health. Cooking GF is an adventure but it is wonderful when something turns out really well. Good luck with it.

Joe,

Those are some super photos.

It's a treat to see some color variety in foliage. We only have two foliage colors in Texas this year - faded green and brown. LOL.

Thanks for sharing,
Tex

You are getting some good shots with that very nice camera. The best time of the year for photography, especially here in NE. What a beautiful dog, my favorite breed.

I know Jenny its a little early it's snowing quite heavily here at the moment. Just a little while ago Nestlé was outside running around trying to catch the snowflakes in her mouth.

Have you checked the forecast for the weekend, it's for snow again Saturday night.

Great update, Joe! So glad that you are getting your life back!!

And great pictures! It is beautiful here this year, too. We've had a great autumn so far. It makes up for the dreary one we had last year. Last night was the first night we did not have our bedroom window open. It gets a little chilly at night without the cloud cover, so it was down into the upper 30's last night. But the sunny days warming up to around 60 are wonderful.

We don't get much snow here, except in the mountains, of course. Looking forward to some snow photos and more good news from you!

Wow, Joe - fantastic photos! You are so right, our 4-legged friends are wise teachers and philosophers (and your Nestle is also quite the beauty). I was in Mass. earlier this week - the foliage is so far ahead of us here... it seems a little unfair that the snow is early, the same year the fall color is late...

Glad to hear she reacted that way to a harmless little garter snake - I'm sure you can praise/reward/enhance that natural reaction (which is a lot easier than training a dog away from an impulse to 'investigate' or snuffle). Hope to hear good news about your plans.

Love,

Hi Joe,

So glad to hear you're back on an upswing, as you've certainly had your share of disappointments and issues lately. :xfingers: that things stay this way for a while and you can make some progress on your relocation to Aussie.

Wow, that Nestle is a true star - the pictures are such a treat - thank you so much for sharing.

Love,
Kari

Hey Joe!

Wonderful photos, just breath-taking! I especially love the ones with Nestle, snake, and duck. You are quite the photographer. Will look forward to the snow shots. We are supposed to get some snow tomorrow for the first time, but only about one inch.

It has been quite a rollercoaster, healthwise, for you this past year. But it seems that is all behind you now. Yippee!!!!!!

Love,

Polly
