A bad flare would be something like firehose D, 10 to 20 times a day, or more, where you feel as though you have the mother of all flu viruses, and even your hair and teeth hurt, day after day, and you're so fatigued that you barely have the energy to run to the bathroom, and you wouldn't be able to think clearly, even if you didn't have a splitting headache.
You're having a chronic problem with recurring, or cyclic symptoms. You may be in a cycle of alternating D and normal BMs.
Or, it could be something you're eating, every other day, (maybe on the day that you feel better).

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.
It's almost never easy, and we're all in the same boat with that problem. Even if we're just eating a handful of foods, it's still usually tough to figure out the culprit, because we tend to trust the few foods that we have whittled our diet down to, especially if we've been eating that way for a while.
