Bound!

Post by Lesley »

To home by my bound up gut! I need to go out, but I can't. I feel so horrible. Weak and in pain, and SO bloated and and STUCK! I don't know how to get going without eating something forbidden.

We've got to find a way to break that cycle, because apparently it's going to continue to recur, otherwise. I have a suggestion to consider. This is for after the cycle flips to D:

As soon as the D ends, and before the C can begin, again, try taking a stool softener each day, in order to preempt the "C" part of the cycle. If that works, it may also preempt the "D" phase of the cycle, as well. "C" can be very difficult to resolve - it should be easier to prevent it from happening, than to resolve it after it occurs. You may have to determine the dosage by trial and error, and you may even have to vary it over time, but eventually you should be able to find a dose that works on an intermediate-term, (or even long-term), basis, so that your intestines will be able to heal from the diet, and your BM pattern will slowly adjust to a more normal pattern.

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.

I have been doing that It doesn't seem to help. I might have to increase the dosage. Maybe it's like the vitamins. I need more because of this disease.

I can't sit up right now. I am on the couch using my tiny laptop. Yes, it's a laptop, the size of an notebook. It's small, and not so easy to maneuver at times but the ease or portability is well worth it to me. And it was NOT expensive.

The pain is excruciating. I need to go out to get something forbidden. I have NOTHING in the house.

I took stool softeners after knee replacement surgery. I took one four times a day while I was in the hospital but they didn't work very well. A nurse suggested I take all four at once. I decided to take the 4 before I went to bed. That helped things a bit for me. Of course i had the C because of the anethesia & pain killers.

This may or may not work for you, but thought I would let you know what helped me.

I have C because of drugs too. I feel like I have to swallow a bomb to get going. I have taken so much softener, among other things and I am still not going. I am scared of the pain when it finally goes because of the dreaded plug.
I ate a piece of goat's milk cheese tonight. Let's see if it helps. On one hand I want it to. On the other I want to be able to eat goat's milk cheese. Right now I am NOT a happy camper.

You probably have tried the two other "home" remedies that I used also - very, very warm tap water (with tblsp of lemon juice for flavoring if you cant have tea or coffee) & about a tsp of oil that you can tolerate.

Good luck. I can relate to the situation. My knee surgeon required me to have a bowel movement before he would agree I could go home after surgery! As hard a time I had, I'm glad he was that strict.

Take care

I have tried WAY stronger than that. Nothing is working and it's making me feel SO bad.

Thanks Brenda!

Leslie, me too, as far as it concerns the sofa and the laptop (thanks god no D or C for me at the moment), I love my tiny laptop. I think they call it a netbook, mine is half the size of a normal notebook/laptop (never know the difference). I bought mine when I moved to Amman last year, smaller laptops are so much easier to take with you when you are travelling. I can tell you, I never want anything else anymore than this small size thing. I has all the advances of a laptop, only this one fits in my handbag, it has the size (and the weight) of a book. And like you said not expensive it all. I can do everything on it, email, internet, download my pictures on it from my camera. Only thing it has not CD/DVD player but those are easily bought separately and connected through the USB. One of the other big advances of this mini laptop is the battery, lasts for almost 6 hours.

Also, I am a 10 finger blind typer, no problem on this keyboard.

There is a but, it is a bit slow. But that is the only but.

Lesley,

When that happened to me from the meds after surgery it was Milk of Magnesia that would do the trick for me. Do you have any or have someone that could run to the store and pick some up for you? I hope it comes soon! I know the feeling, the bigger the plug the worse it is when it finally comes out.

Mandy, I have been impacted. This wasn't it.
Note the past tense. I got relief this morning, in a big rush. It wasn't watery D, but it wasn't Norman.

Robin, look above. I did get rid of a lot of it. I am left with a horrible bruised feeling and am struggling with GERD, as usual. I am now doubling my stool softeners from today in the hope that it will keep me going.

Harma, I share your feelings. I bought the laptop expecting to go to Israel to see my family at some point earlier this year (not during the summer because I can't stand the heat), but obviously, given the terrible D I didn't make it.
I am not that good at typing, and, with bilateral damage to 2 of the 3 main nerves to my hands, I use and ergonomic keyboard, way more easily than that little keyboard. However, I can attach a different keyboard to it and use it comfortably.
I helped a friend buy one. She was afraid it was too small until I showed her how to make the whole page bigger until even older people like us can see them easily. She is now hooked. She loves how she can stick it under her arm, into her handbag and just go.

Asus is selling their transformer for $242 this black Friday. That is INCREDIBLE. If I didn't already have mine I would get that one. The screen detaches from the keyboard, and can be used like a Kindle. Reattach the keyboard and you have a great little computer - it's MORE than a notebook, which costs just as much.
