An interesting new fruit

Life just got a little sweeter thanks to a native West African fruit about the size of a cranberry.

The miracle fruit, “miracle berry,” or more formally Synsepalum dulcificum contains a glycoprotein – conveniently named miraculin - that temporarily fools taste buds into believing that sour and bitter things taste sweet.

...Cantu believes the pill could do away with the need for refined sugar, helping at-risk and current diabetics curb their sugar cravings.

Maybe next they can find one that makes things taste like fresh-baked sour dough
bread.

DH picked up a loaf of GF sourdough bread at our Earth Fare and really enjoyed it. I never even tasted it but I'm not much of a fan of sourdough.
I'll try to remember to get the name of it when we are there again.

Thanks, Joan. A good piece of bread is all I'm missing once in a while.
