Lumps and bumps

Post by Lesley »

I have had a slightly swollen right side sub mandibular gland for a very long time. It is painful to the touch, but doesn't hurt otherwise.

a) does anyone else have this?
b) it's a salivary gland, so it strikes me that it could be connected to my dry mouth problems, and once again raises the question if this is indeed Sjogrens despite the negative tests. I have had swollen parotids on and off over the years.

TMJ, (temporomandibular joint disorder), is a common problem with MC. If your gland inflammation is not associated with Sjogrens, it could possibly be associated with TMJ. I had severe TMJ problems while I was reacting, and several glands on my jaw and neck were often sore and swollen. That all disappeared after I was on the diet for a while.

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.

It isn't TMJ. I am very familiar with that. Nope, this is something else. It's only one gland, and it doesn't go away.

Having TMJ is awful. Glad yours is better.

I wish I could say that the diet got rid of my TMJ issues, but apparently they are here to stay! Still better than D, though!

Cynthia, sorry you have TMJ issues. That's miserable. I had problems sleeping and had to wear a tooth guard.

This site never ceases to amaze me..... I have TMJ issues too but not that severe.

I read through these posts and find myself saying "Me too, I have that too." Here it's just a matter of fact that these seemingly unrelated health issues are all tied together. I wish the doctor's would make that connection. If I would have received the direction I get from this site 4 years ago I would be in a much bette place right now. On the brighter side- at least I have hope of getting there now!

Lesley- I'm sorry you're having problems with glands. Like you need another thing to deal with.

Deb. When I first joined I had exactly the same reaction. I read about similar reactions and couldn't believe it. I had researched all over the place and didn't get answers. Here I did. So now when I find something I ask, and many people say they have the same problem.

I have found people with ONE symptom, or maybe 2, but not a whole syndrome's worth. This has been an eye opener.

All of us have a lot to contend with Deb. This is not a simple illness.

Merry Christmas!
