Oma, sounds like we were raised the same as far as swearing goes.... and in my case swearing covered a LOT of words. HaHa

It's pretty amazing the reaction I get when I even say "crap" around people who know me well. It's kind of funny. But then, according to my mother, that was a very bad word.

I am an offender and a swearer but have tried to clean it up lately. Always makes me feel better and they are just words.

My grandmother swore like a trouper and thought it was funny to teach her tiny grandchildren shocking words. She also let us sip her beer and take a puff of her pastel colored cigarettes. We thought she was terrific!! Of course, this was back in prehistoric times when no one knew smoking could give you cancer.

My son, however, frowns if I say "crap" in front of my grandchildren. My "go to" bad word starts with S and means the same thing. Crap seems very mild to me but I really, really try to be good. Actually, I think children, especially teenagers, cause swearing and once they are out of the house swearing slows down considerably. MC and celiac cause a lot of swearing because adhering to the diet is such a pain in the A$%#. However, the way teenagers and others throw around the F word and other related obscenities is really offensive to me. I suppose there is tolerable swearing and intolerable swearing in my world.

I am enjoying having the time to just sit at the computer and scroll through the messages. I haven't been able to do that for a while. You all are such an interesting group of people.
