left over meat?

Post by Leah »

Did I read correctly when someone posted that we shouldn't be eating left over meat?!
Does it include all proteins? I am always eating chicken, beef, and pork from the fridge after i have cooked a meal the previous night. ??????

Hi Leah,

That recommendation was for people who have mast cell issues, because most leftovers, (and especially meats), tend to accumulate histamines during storage. Eating something cooked the previous night isn't nearly as risky as eating something cooked a day or two, (or three), ago. The longer the time span, the higher the histamines will typically be. Chicken is usually the riskiest, (after fish), but they will all accumulate more histamines over time. If histamines don't seem to bother you, then this may not be an issue for you.

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.
