I suddenly have some kind of itchy rash around the rectal area. On my skin itself. What could this be from? I am on entecort now for 6 weeks and my BM's had finally started to become more normal and the stomach pain has been better although the joint pain is still quite bad. Any thoughts?

I get that when I eat a food I am allergic to, although the reaction starts on my lips, and I have a small rash on one finger that also worsens.

Pat is correct. It's possible that it could be dermatitis herpetiformis, though that's an uncommon location.

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.
Symptoms cycle, and continue to develop, and you haven't been off gluten long enough for your antibody level to decline significantly. Though one can reach remission much sooner, it takes a year or two for the gut to heal, and that's if you are avoiding gluten 100%.

By week 8 on Entocort my joint pain was considerably better. Mine had been severe. Some things to try and these are kind of grandma type recommendations for say arthritis pain which is really not what we have. Drink a lot of water, get a lot of sleep, drizzle extra virgin olive oil on your overcooked veggies, cook veggies and other stuff in coconut oil, (make sure you are getting enough fats). Also you might try to eat more fish--of any type--salmon might be the better one---until the joint pain gets better. You can even eat salmon out of the can or from the foil packs. I tried both heat and cold but found both to be non effective. Hot baths did nothing for the joint pain and I went to the gym for three days in a row to immerse myself in the icey cold pool that the athletes use for injury. Neither hot nor cold was effective.
We can take Tylenol but I never tried that my pain was too severe....I didn't think it would even take the edge off. But you can perhaps try Tylenol. If you havn't tried the L Glutamine yet you might want to add that as there have been a lot of positive posts. L Glutamine won't help with the joint pain but may help in speeding up the healing the gut which will help with the joint pain. The athletes use L Glutamine for "recovery" after exertion so who knows. I wasn't taking the L Glutamine during my joint pain period but only started that afterwards when people posted about it.
I think perhaps getting a lot of sleep during that period helped as much as anything. My joint pain is zero now so it does get better. Brandy

Belle, I have the same problem. I believe mine is caused from eating dairy. I have been gf for the past 9 months but was still having problems after 6 months so I then went dairy free. I have knowingly consumed milk on two separate occasions and each time I have had this rash appear. I think it is associated with what others call "battery acid" diarrhea. When this happens, I use COSTCO wet wipes. If I keep the area very clean, the problem is usually resolved in a couple of days.
