A Canadian man has carried out a bizarre 'faecal transplant' on himself - and claims it worked.
The unnamed man from Cape Breton in Nova Scotia, Canada gave himself an enema containing faeces from his cousin in a bid to beat a bacterial infection.

Despite the typical claims by the doctor in that article, about how dangerous this is to do outside a hospital, (naturally, they're going to try to discourage patients from trying to horn in on their turf), instructions on how to do this yourself are available online, and written by a doctor, no less:

Dr. Silverman describes 7 cases, where the patients used a low volume enema, to treat themselves at home. All cases successfully eliminated their C. diff infections, and none of them had any complications, as a result of the procedure. Obviously, it ain't rocket science.

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.
Before finding my home here at this forum, I had read about this type of treatment on another forum list for UC. If I remember correctly, the treatment often has to be done repeatedly (a month or more) for a positive result, so doing so at home is the most practical. It was working for those trying it. :)
