Enterolab Results

Post by JFR »

My results:

B) Gluten/Antigenic Food Sensitivity Stool/Gene Panel
Fecal Anti-gliadin IgA 74 Units (Normal Range is less than 10 Units)

Fecal Anti-casein (cow’s milk) IgA 33 Units (Normal Range is less than 10 Units)

Fecal Anti-ovalbumin (chicken egg) IgA 36 Units (Normal Range is less than 10 Units)

Fecal Anti-soy IgA 35 Units (Normal Range is less than 10 Units)

HLA-DQB1 Molecular analysis, Allele 1 0202

HLA-DQB1 Molecular analysis, Allele 2 0301

Serologic equivalent: HLA-DQ 2,3 (Subtype 2,7)

I have been gf/df/ef/sf for the past few weeks and things are definitely better but far from perfect. I am not surprised at the results. My plan is to do a strict elimination diet and maybe more testing. I have been mostly gluten free for years although not 100%. I guess that not quite 100% mattered as did all the yogurt and eggs I was eating.

Your gene test is almost identical to my son's, although he's 0201, the celiac gene, not 0202.

Jean,

Do you mind if I add your results to our list?

These results are very helpful to me. I have gone so long not having any idea what's wrong with me, wondering if I were crazy, thinking that I just had to learn how to live with things, that it's good to get a positive result, even if it means that I have to eliminate yogurt and cheese and eggs, which were staples in my diet, and become scrupulous about gluten and soy, which I had been avoiding but clearly not carefully enough. I guess in a way I am grateful that things got so bad, that I had watery D every 15-30 minutes almost immediately after I ate anything, for there was no way I could learn to live with that. Even immodium, my go to med, stopped working, leaving me pretty hopeless. I am so glad I found this board and glad I had the testing done. Now I have to figure out where to from here, what my safe foods might be to use as a basis of an elimination diet. At least I know that gluten, soy, dairy and eggs are out, but what's in? I figure I'll get there eventually.

Hi Jean,

I felt the same way when getting my Enterolab results - relief at knowing more conclusively what my intolerances were. However, even with those results, don't get discouraged if you're still reacting. It is difficult to figure out a good elimination diet on your own. Some of us here were very successful in doing it, but many others have had a hard time.

The MRT test was very helpful for me to get a handle on my numerous "other" sensitivities. If you haven't already browsed it, there is a section on this board were those of us who did the test have posted and discussed our results. Depending on how you do based on what you already know, it should hopefully be a comfort to know that there is another tool to use should you need to.

Anyhow, wanted to wish you the best of luck as you embark on this next chapter on your road to recovery.

Love,
Kari

Thanks Kari,

I have read here about MRT and am considering it. I will probably try the elimination diet on my own for a while any way and see how it goes. I would like to avoid spending more money if I can. I am also wondering whether I should do another Enterolab test since I didn't include the 11 antigenic foods when I did the test, also trying to save a little money, maybe a mistake but I am so much better than a was just a few short weeks ago when I joined this forum that I remain optimistic. Thanks for your help and encouragement.

I did do the 11 antigenic foods and was surprised at my results. Both Tex and Enterolab explained to me that I could react to things I do not eat because there are "things" (so scientific of me) in other foods that I am eating that react like the foods I tested for. Good reason to eat only whole foods so its easier to eliminate when you continue to have symptoms. So the tests are not the complete picture but do give you a starting point if you're newly diagnosed and had a sudden onset of the disease like me.

Jean,

I'm so glad to hear that the diet is already working - yeah!!! Anyhow, you probably know this, but just in case you don't, Enterolab holds on to your "sample" for a limited time after you test, so you have a window of opportunity to order the rest of the test. It should be cheaper, and certainly a lot more convenient, should you want to go that route.

Kari,

I didn't know that they held the sample. Cheaper and easier sounds good. I find myself wishing I had done the further testing so maybe I will now, especially if I can avoid the whole "collection" process.

Thanks again,
Jean
