Interestingly, my Genova Labs Complete stool analysis was absolutely normal. I have the gut microbiome of a healthy person!! Woohoo!
I asked her why I tolerate fermented veggies and not multi-strain probiotics in capsule form. She thinks its the sudden burst when the capsule opens combined with my permeable intestines. I don't buy it. I think my immune system is actively attacking one of the "beneficial" bacteria in those formulations (perhaps because it once leaked through my permeable intestines!?).
She hadn't yet looked at my Genetic Genie methylation report or the few pages of select mutations from my Promethease report. She said they don't give much weight to 23&me testing yet, because they don't think the interpretations of the results are accurate. I told her my OAT urine test and gene mutations suggest I have low BH4 and neurotranmitter issues (which could cause all my symptoms) and she had no idea what BH4 is, but she's going to ask the head of the practice about it. She did say she thinks I'd benefit from 5-HTP supplementation, but I heard that can cause diarrhea (by altering serotonin levels in the gut??) and I already have colitis!. More to follow on this, I hope...

So that leaves us with autoimmune, allergic or viral causes for the MC and Dermatomyositis, so she's rechecking my Epstein Barr Virus and HHV-6 titers and testing again for Lyme disease (inferior Western Blot method. Oh well). If viral counts are up, I'll take natural (or regular) antivirals. Apparently I already have one at home...Monolaurin. I bought it for my daughters candida, but apparently it's a potent antiviral too!
She prescribed a new overpriced supplement for gut permeability, which she suspects is my biggest problem. I'll give it a month. Here it is: http://www.integrativepro.com/Products/ ... ty-Factors
She also adjusted my hips (gotta love seeing a Doctor of Osteopathy instead of an MD!). I had one leg way shorter than the other!! She gave me exercises to do at home to try to make the adjustment hold, but my pelvic muscles and joints are a chronic mess.
I'll see her in 2 months, but my gut is in decent shape so long as I eat fermented vegetables every day or two. I even reintroduced eggs without trouble! My rash is flaring somewhat on one hip since I tapered prednisone in December. Need that to calm down before I taper again.
I'm hoping I warm up soon!
