LOSING WEIGHT

Post by 2810CieloGrande »

I am new to the forum and am concerned about weight loss. My results from Enterolab indicate that I am sensitive to all 15 tested items. Currently I am eating organic turkey, zucchini, and yellow squash, trying to start the recovery process. I read in an earlier post that olive oil and coconut oil are ok during recovery. I am using olive oil now and would like to add quinoa and amaranth to provide more calories since I have lost about 20 pounds—and I didn’t have any to lose. Is it safe to add small servings of these grains while I still have diarrhea (although it seems to be improving), or should I wait until things are more stabilized? Thanks for the opportunity to participate in this forum, and for your help.

Quinoa and amaranth should be safe for anyone. I'm guessing you've already seen the Newsletter published by the Microscopic Colitis Foundation discussing the weight loss problem associated with MC. In case you haven't, here's a direct link where you can either read or download a copy of that newsletter:

Incidentally, quinoa and amaranth are not grains, and that may be one of the reasons why they're safe for us. They're seeds.

I hope this helps,

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.
