DAiry or Gluten Ease, or TriEnza? does that help ?

Post by borensb »

Has anyone tried any of the Dairy EAse, Gluten Ease or Some tablet called TriEnza for when you might eat Dairy, Gluten ,etc? There are times that I am at a festival, or celebration where everything is something I can't eat. I just wondered if I could take any of those tablets for a one time outing and not have a flare up?
And what about alchol? Anything that might help deter and help if I had a drink?
Had big flare up in March at my son's wedding... I had a small drink of wine and next day (or weeks I was in a flare up). Also lasts year I was at big family reunion and everything there was covered with cheese, and all gluten. It was an all day and night celebration. I brought my turkey and gluten free bread to eat earlier but was so hungry later that night... but so many chips, dips, casserols, it was really hard.
Any suggestions on one time outings that I could enjoy eating for that day?

Thanks

Products such as Gluten Ease will usually prevent most of us from having a reaction to gluten if we eat a meal claimed to be gluten-free, but it actually contains traces of gluten (which is often the case). But if we eat a meal that actually contains significant amounts of gluten, such products are not capable of even coming close to preventing a reaction, in most cases. So the bottom line is, they'll help when eating out, but we still have to order food certified to be gluten-free, if we don't want to have a reaction.

Regarding reactions to dairy products, digestive enzyme supplements like Dairylytic or ProteaseCW can help break down casein and whey, making them easier to digest, but I doubt they will prevent any of us who are sensitive to casein from reacting, since even trace amounts can cause a reaction. Most older products marketed to help with the digestion of dairy products only addressed lactose, which would is of little value to us.

If you react to alcohol, like many of us, you're probably sensitive to histamine.

If you can find out what brand of chips are served at a gathering, many of them are safe for us, depending upon the oil used when they are cooked. Lay's potato chips, Fritos, and plain tortilla chips for example, are safe (as long as you don't overdo it, and have a reaction against the excess salt).

Hello,

In the US a product called lactaid is popular for dairy intolerance. I tried that. It did nothing. It has a lot of chemicals in it. I found a product called Lactojoy on Amazon. It only has 3 ingredients. It is made in Germany. This product has really worked for when I have knowingly eaten cheese. The lactojoy prevents the extreme gas I get from eating cheese. After a 9 month trial of eating cheese I've stopped eating cows milk cheese and switched to only goat and sheeps milk cheese. The cows milk cheese caused joint pain (even with the lactaid or lactojoy.

I've used Gluten Ease in restaurant settings and just picked up something called Gluten Assist. I don't knowingly eat gluten but use these to help with contamination. The Gluten Assist has a lot less chemicals in the formula than the Gluten Ease.

Products with a lot of chemicals as ingredients are problematic for me.

Hello. I have used Gluten Ease when I eat in a restaurant & I'm not sure if my meals will be safe. I'm going to look into the Gluten Assist that Brandy mentioned because I like to avoid chemicals as well. I have never had a problem with the Gluten Ease.

When I'm going to an event and I want to take something other than my staples of turkey, sweet potato & steamed broccoli, I take a Nick's turkey stick in my purse. Protein helps to prevent becoming too hungry. I can tolerate Lara Bars & I purchase the ones that contain the least amount of ingredients & carbs.

I don't drink alcohol often, but White Claw is gluten free. I usually only drink 1/2 can just to have something something different. When we were on vacation last year the bar we stopped in to listen to the music didn't have White Claw, but the bartender was nice enough to Google if what they had available was gluten free (I would have Googled myself, but she beat me to it).
