Glad to be home....

2000 miles, 24/7 family togetherness for 10 days - and I survived!!

Actually the trip was fabulous! Yellowstone was *amazing* - I'll post some pictures when we get them off the camera....we saw lots of elk, bison and bald eagles, along with waterfalls, steaming pools and of course, Old Faithful! Jackson Hole, WY was equally beautiful, but a bit *upscale touristy* for my taste - we got to ride the ski lift up, and alpine slide 2500 feet down the hill - the kids loved it! They also had a great Old West 4th of July parade and fireworks etc...Grand Tetons is beautiful/amazing and my younger son even caught a fish there!

Eating was a bit challenging on the road (in Jackson we had a kitchenette - plus the restaurants there were very good) we call Nevada and Idaho "land of the buffet" - ugh - gross even if intolerances are not an issue!! A couple of times Mike took the kids for pizza, and I got myself a salad at the local grocery store! Jackson actually had an organic restaurant (breakfast/lunch) with several GF menu items - but we mostly cooked in - except for one fancy dinner out - so I checked it out, but did not eat there...

I've got a lot of reading/catching up to do! My bladder behaved-UTI all better, but on the way there, we stopped *a lot* for potty breaks

I think I hit every gas station west of the Rockies

And Yellowstone involves a lot of driving, as well - most of the scenic spots have porta potties at *best* - it would be a flaring MCer's nightmare

Today is laundry and catching up on what has been happening around here....I'll check in later!

Glad you're home. Wyoming is beautiful....it is geared however to the rustic (shall we say) side of life. I can't wait to see your pictures. I bet they are great.

the steaming pools sound great--matter of fact the entire place sound wonderful---

Sounds great Mary! I went to yellowstone when I was 12...we drove from Vermont

in a Citation (remember those)...family of 4. Plus we camped in a 4-man tent! These are the trips of a lifetime for kids. We had the added benefit of stopping for 4 days in Minnesota to see my Great-Grandmother. She wasn't feeling well the day we left, but had been fine and out to eat with us while we were there. She passed away 3 weeks later (at the ripe old age of almost 93!).

Glad you survived all the family togetherness.

Hey Mary

We did Yellowstone and the Grand Tetons a couple of years back and just loved them, too. We traveled in September to avoid the crowds and pretty much had both places to ourselves

Hey...welcome back! I visited Yellowstone many years ago...also stopped in Wyoming...great drive from Colorado to Tacoma...gotta love those road trips...hahahaha...JJ
