Paging Polly

Post by harvest_table »

Polly,

Here's a :pulsinghearts: picture of Lannie and I, thanks to our "Techie Tex".

Hope you had a wonderful weekend. I spent lots of $$$ at the greenhouse today so have lot's more planting to do. It's a nice evening and since it stays light outside until almost 1am now I have no excuse to not get those plants in the ground tonight. Summer solstice is June 21st, then we will start losing daylight after that.

Love,
Joanna

HAHAHAHAHAHA, Joanna - our posts just crossed. I saw this photo and KNEW it was you and Lannie. It's lovely! It is so good to put the faces with the names.

Have fun with your midnight planting. I'm glad our night comes sooner - I'd be too tired and sore to keep gardening half the night like you do in Alaska! What are you planting, BTW?

Love,

Polly

I love putting faces with names! Joanna - you and Lannie are adorable!

Is it hard getting used to it being light so long? I would like it, I think?!!!

I don't have any problems going to sleep when I'm tired but it reminds me of when my girls were little. They always told me "mom, it's not dark out - it can't be time for bed". Oh boy - that would be a problem!

Hi Ladies,

I'm a planting fool tonight...cosmos, dianthus, delphinium, poppies, sweet peas, sunflowers, nastursiums and lavatera. Some of these I started in the greenhouse months ago and just have not had time to get them in. Our vegetable garden has been planted for a few weeks and looks very good. Hoping for a good season.

It WAS hard for me to get use to the light here in the summer but I have have black out window coverings in our bedrooms, so that helps. It's hard to get Lannie to bed at a respectable hour in the summer and get her up for school in the winter when it doesn't start getting light until 11am. The darkness in the winter bothers me more.

Alan and Lannie are in Minnesota for awhile visiting family so I'm having some nice, quality quiet time. Just me and the animals. I need it...have been really busy with floral wedding work the last month.

Avatar pictures are so fun. Mars, when I think of you, I think of a frog on a toilet!! I hope you will pop off that toilet soon!

BTW, it's me on the left of the redhead with a red wild streak in her hair. My daughter is a very special girl.

Love,
Joanna

Great Picture of the two of you.

I am also a night time planter but I wish I could be back in Alaska to plant.

Hi Joanna,

I can picture your garden, and it will be gorgeous! Maybe you can share some photos. How long will you get to enjoy it - IOW, when is your first frost?

Tell Lannie that my niece Hannah, age 15, always wears a blue streak in her hair - right in the front too. She is quite an individual - even as a toddler, she always insisted on wearing mismatched socks. It has become one of her "trademarks". I know she'd love to meet Lannie!

Love,

Polly

Good morning, Joanna.

I have looked at your list of flowers carefully and will plant them in my garden. I was kind of running out of ideas. Thanks. :coffee2: (That is what I am doing right now.)

Lots of love,

Sally

Good afternoon all.

Did a pretty good job last night of getting most stuff planted and slept like a baby. :sleep2:

I tend to plant like a frenzied hurricane and hurl pots and tools in a wake behind me so today I'll have to pick up the mess. It's a nice day here so it will be nice to be outside.

Maggie, I love to plant at night- it's better for the plants not to put them in during the heat of the day. I believe I saw some pictures of your home and gardens on Sally's site. Very Beautiful. Oh, I'm thinking you may have moved from their now. ?

Polly, things grow really well here eventhough our season is so short. It's due in part, to the non stop daylight hours...they just keep growing and growing. We usually have our first frosts in September but no killing frosts till later in the month. Also, you know, I had a hard time agreeing to let Alanna do that streak in her hair and dragged my feet for quite awhile. She wanted to do the BLUE but settled for RED. I've come to like it and think it's a special way she can express herself. She is not into clothes- YET!

Shirley, I still plan to send you some pics from our visit with you, I'll get-er-done, one of these days. Say hi to Bill. How's his back?

Sally, I think YOU are a master gardener. I've seen pictures of your home and yard. Really nice. I remember hearing that you were going to move back to Eugene this summer. Have you done that or changed your mind? Glad I gave you some ideas.

Off to the gardens. Hope your all having a great day. :goodvibes

Love,
Joanna

I'd love to see the pictures and I'll bet Bill has some on his laptop that I haven't seen yet. I'll have to check that out.

His back is still giving him trouble but it 's slowly getting better. Every time he hurts it, it takes a bit longer to heal.

Shirley,
You should just INSIST that Bill stay off the golf course till his back heals up. :banned: Probably wouldn't go over to well though.

Barbara,
I think you are a beautiful Mrs. Columbo....you look like a redhead- somehow I'm not surprised. LOL The pictures are one of many really neat features on the board. I think we are all having fun with it for sure.

Well, Joanna, As Maggie lives to Bird, Bill lives to Golf!!

If I tried to :banned: Bill from golfing I'd hear a LOT of :censored: - or at least a lot of laughing, but I'll tell him I was advised to do that
