BEST NEWS EVER--re:Kait

In Lynn's searching she found an Organization (where they live) called !!INTRODUCTION!! which is getting kids -like Kait-(mental delay) --who have NO friends---sit in their rooms---do nothing---have no fun--etc.
together as a group and DO things with them---give them the chance to have a friend---a chance to go OUT and do things---(supervised)--

They can choose what and where they would like to go and do---
These kids will have friends---(age group is from 18 to 25)
The parents will have to bring them to this Grouping and then pick them up when there day of enjoyment is over-
And the kids might choose not to do anything --just sit around and hash back and forth with their *friends*--comparing their ailments ----or just having a no-sense gab fest!!!!
Isnt this wonderful------Kait knows she is a wee bit different--SHE just DANCERS to a DIFFERENT DRUMMER!!!

I am so thrilled for her----Lynn had to get documented proof from all surgeons etc. as to what she has been thru--

Image--finally Kait will Xperience the warmth of a young man--having her heart *beat* with luve and being luved--which she sooooo wants to feel--
Having a special gal-friend---just having FRIENDS!!!!

Can U tell how thrilled I am that the light @ the end of the tunnel is shinning for her~~~~saying home Kait~~~~~~the door is open--come and feel the enjoyment of being alive~~~~

I too am thrilled by your good news. I have a dear friend whose daughter is special and each time she finds a program that helps her feel like other kids she also is thrilled. I am especailly glad for Kait and her mom and YOU too.

These types of organizations are wonderful! My brother (w/Down Syndrome) is involved in one. It also helps to have someone coordinate events - otherwise these people (my brother and his peers - who all live semi-independently) don't necessarily make the effort to leave their apartments, which leads to depression etc...

My brother has many friends, and it really helps him have a social life, independent from family! As far as meeting someone special? Well, my bro is on the higher-functioning end of the spectrum, so he seems to usually develop a "crush" on the leader/facilitator of the group
But some of his female friends have been "girlfriends" at some point - they tend to rotate among the familiar - it's sort of like a soap opera!

It will be wonderful for Kait!

Morning Barbara,

I am so thrilled for Kait, Lynn, you and Lou. It has to be hard for Kait especially when Kirsten has her own life.

This sounds like a great organization and one that should really benefit Kait's social life and create friends and things for her to do. Kudos to Lynn who has really come a long way as others have said.
