Is there anything special that you get at Whole Foods? We may go up to B'ham on Monday. I have printed out the list from their web site but I want your recommendations for GF, CF, SF foods.

I buy their Sesame Rice Crackers, Ricera yogurt (not available at all stores) and Rice Dream milk, which is cheaper. They also carry Arrowhead Buckwheat Cereal. You can buy specialty seeds/grains like quinoa, and buckwheat in the bulk section. I buy the buckwheat and grind it in my blender to make flour. Their bulk walnuts per pound are cheaper than other places if you don't get the organic ones. They also carry ghee, Lara bars and a lot of the typical GF baking supplies.

If there is a Trader Joe's in the area, you might want to stop there, because they carry a lot of GF items. I just bought a lb. of almond meal for only $3.99. It's over $10 everywhere else. Trader Joe has its own GF brand of rice milk and it's even cheaper than Whole Foods, $2.69 for 64 oz. Brown rice pasta is cheaper at Trader Joe's, too: 13.2 oz rice sticks are $1.39 and 1 lb. rice spaghetti is $1.99. Thanks very much for the ideas. I bought Ghee at the HF but have been afraid to try it.....it may be spoiled by now.

No TJ in this state.

I get Whole Foods 365 brand muffiin mixes & cake mixes
Their 365 brand rootbeer
Tinky'ada pastas
Chebe bread mix
Tahini
My hempseed milk
My coconut milk ice cream
Their 365 brand coconut milk
Lara Bars
And I have to close my eyes when I walk by their olive bar!! LOL
If I think of more products, I'll add to my post.

I've read that unrefrigerated Ghee lasts 3-6 months. Refrigerated, probably much longer. Casien is apparently what spoils butter. With the casien removed, the oil won't spoil very quickly.

I'm sorry to hear that you don't have a Trader Joe's near you. I only go there every couple of months, but I stock up when I do.

Thanks, now I'm wondering if I want to go only because we will have to take a road trip soon to Charlotte to see and, hopefully, buy a dog.

I was at a party tonight and a woman has me scared to death about buying a puppy. I hope I am up for it.......
