Well I am having an op on my knee on 24th February & then my GP is sending me off to a spinal surgeon in Brisbane. Things have not been too good for the last few months. Not being able to drive has sort of clipped my wings as well. After 44 years of just getting in the car & going I have to be driven because of pain meds. Getting a bit sick of myself at present. There is always a silver lining to every cloud though. The medication effects the bowel. Would you believe that after 35 years + of colitis that I am getting constipated.
To tell you the truth, I don't know what is worse.
The drought is well & truly over for the present here. We have been getting good rains but unfortunately some pretty severe storms & it looks as though that will be the pattern for the summer.
It is Xmas Eve here. We will be having a pretty quiet Xmas, just Robert & myself for the most part. Don't think we will be doing any raging on new Years Eve either.

Thanks for the update. I'll be thinking of you and those surgeries.
I was thinking about you right after hurricane Ike came through Houston, and wondering how the International Quilt thing was that soon after the storm. I never did get downtown to see all the immediate damage as I had to wait in Ft. Worth until all the power and services were up and running again -- took about two more weeks. Did your friend make it back here to Houston for that Quilting thing? Think you said in the past that she came every year, all the way from Australia!
It's good to pop in here every once in a while and see a familiar "face."
Merry Christmas to you and Robert!

Sorry to hear about the surgeries, but hopefully they will fix you up as good as new. Constipation may run in the family, as your "twin" has been complaining about the same problem, I believe.
It's good to hear that your drought is finally over. I hope that doesn't happen again, anytime soon. After all the floods we had here in Texas during the first half of the year, last year, we immediately switched to a drought, and it's getting to be a pretty serious problem over many parts of the state. Like Australia, we seem to go from one extreme to the other, as far as rainfall is concerned.
Love,
Wayne
It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.
Hope the surgeries go well and that you will have a much more mobile and healthy 2009. We are in the same quiet boat for Christmas but will be raging on NY Eve. Going away to the Outer Banks in North Carolina as we did for Thanksgiving.
Best to you and your family.
Love, Maggie

Hi Liz,
And it's so good to hear how you have been doing even though it hasn't been too good. I sure hope the surgeries help a LOT. It must be really strange to go from D to C so quickly.
Even though your Christmas and New Year's will be quiet, I hope both will be very happy and pleasant. Sometimes they are the best kind.
Love, Shirley

Wayne Barb & I seem to be so alike in so many ways. Our lives seem to quite often follow the same path. Well we are "twins"
They reckon that we will be getting our share of cyclones this time around. It really is a feast or a famine as you say. There have been some violent storms around too. Looks as though we will be in for a real "Wet Season" again. Have not had one for so long that I have almost forgotten what they were like.
