Looking at a winter wonderland!

Post by JLH »

Is this April first? Yes, we've got snow. It's very pretty but I don't want it. A few days ago it 70 degrees.

We had 5 inches of rain previously and lots of tornado sirens with a few visits to the closet.

I heard about the tornados and was hoping you were OK. Here's hoping the snow melts quickly!

Thanks. The Southerners panic when they see snow. They feel they are obliged to go to the grocery store. LOL

  You're so right. If the weather forecast mentions snow or icing conditions, the grocery store shelves will be devoid of bread, milk, bottled water, most of the canned goods, etc., in nothing flat.

Enjoy your snow, all we got was a high, dry, wind, (with a few wildfires thrown in). Luckily, there were no fires close by, but about 50 miles south of here, a power line blew down, and started a fire that burned twenty-something homes, I believe, before it was brought under control.

Tex is right about the wildfire. It started about 15 miles south of my house and is still going strong. If anyone knows a rain dance, please do it for Texas.

Joan - glad to hear you're okay. I have a brother who lives in northern Alabama and keep an eye on the weather there.

Sorry to hear about all the wierd and crummy weather. Are you referring to the wildfires around Bastrop? I have a daughter who lives in Kyle and have driven through Bastrop on my way to Kyle. I love the pine trees! I know how dry it's been in Kyle. I live in N. Charleston, SC where we had so much rain in the past 24 hrs., the ducks in the pond behind my house are swimming in the deep puddles left by the rain. If it gets cold enough tonight, we may get snow! At least my MC is quiet for the moment. Hope you all are feeling well, too. Shekoe

Hi Shekoe,

Yes, that's the area - the only pine forest in Texas that's west of the East Texas Piney Woods. That area seems to be close to the center of the most severe drought conditions.

It's good to hear that your MC is currently behaving itself.

Hi Shekoe,

I'm glad to hear that you're getting a reprieve from MC. That's always great news!

Sorry about the fires in TX and sure wish the Charleston rain was in TX and not SC. It is a winter wonderland here this morning with 6" on the ground and about another 3" expected.

Love, Maggie

It is even affecting my area. It's dang chilly here this AM. About 40 right now at almost 8AM. I think it is supposed to stay chilly for a couple more days.

I've been keeping track of the weather in northern Pa. and it has been a very cold winter - and still is!! People are telling me I am crazy to be thinking about moving back there. Well, I never claimed to be too smart. HaHa
