Outback Restaurant

Post by JLH »

I don't know if this is true for other Outbacks or not, but yesterday I spoke to the owner of the one we frequent. He said they have been using olive oil on the skins of the baked potatoes for a few weeks... He also said that the plain chicken breasts are prepared with margarine but they would cook it in olive oil for me.

Our waiter didn't seem to know that gluten was in bread!

Joan,

I had the same experience a couple of years ago at Outback. I ordered the shrimp and told them that I needed it to be gluten free and she brought it to me on a half loaf of bread. I had them take it back and when she brought it back in like 2 minutes, I went on with a 15 minute seminar about gluten with the her. Needless to say stupid me, I ate the shrimp even though I tried to believe that they didn't just take the shrimp off the bread and re-serve it to me (they did) and that night and the next few days I was on many a conference call.

Love,

Joan,
Thanks for the suggestion for the olive oil request. I'll have to remember that next time I go.

Rose,
I had to send back a Mexican dish that I ordered without cheese. It's a lot easier to remove bread and fool the customer than it is to remove cheese. That's unconscionable for them to do that. You can't prove it and they know it.
