Bile Salt Malabsorption

Bile Salt Malabsorption

Can anyone explain to me very simply what bile salt malabsorption is and what it's connection with MC is or give me a link to an easy to understand explanation? Thank you.

Bile salts are merely conjugated bile acids. Since the purpose of bile acids, (and salts), is to emulsify dietary fat, (among other things), I would assume that a bile salt malabsorption issue would simply imply a diminished capacity to emulsify dietary fat, thus resulting in fat malabsorption. IOW, I'm guessing that the term "bile salt malabsorption" refers to fat malabsorption, due to an issue connected with bile salt function. I could certainly be wrong, of course, since this is just a guess.
