We were so surprised this afternoon to see in our backyard at the same time a male and female Painted Bunting (we've only seen 2 or 3 before and we have lived in this house 20 years) AND a male Indigo Bunting. We've never seen an Indigo bunting before, he was brilliant blue! We also had a Blue Jay which we rarely see. There were also Cardinals which we see almost daily. Quite a colorful show!
Some how I got the Indigo Bunting twice. After we saw the Indigo and the Painted a Summer Tanager appeared. We have never seen it before. I thought I posted the Summer Tanager too. I'll try again.
Awesome photos! I haven't seen any around here yet this year, and I've never seen a summer tanager. Usually, when the painteds and the indigos arrive here, they pretty much stay hidden in deep foliage, so I don't normally get any decent photo opportunities.
Thanks for sharing.

P. S. Would you be interested in your own "room" in the Photo Gallery? I'll be happy to set one up, if you want. That way, beautiful photos such as these will always be easy to find, in the future.
It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.
DH gets the credit. He really is a good photographer. These were taken through the sliding glass door (I'm sure it isn't clean) and he used 15 power optical zoom and some digital zoom.
What would you like to name the forum? Pat's Photo's From The Texas Hill Country comes to mind, but I'll be happy to call it anything you want - it's your forum.
