MRT testing for food sensitivites

Post by mbeezie »

Hi Everyone,

I am curious to know if anyone has done the MRT food sensitivity testing, such as the LEAP program from Signet? If so, was it helpful in identifying problem foods?

Thanks in advance!

Hi Mary Beth,

The only member here who has had any experience with the LEAP tests, I believe, is Roni, (ronipow, whose teenage daughter has MC - of course she is no longer a teenager, since that was 4 years ago). Unfortunately, Roni hasn't posted in over 3 years, though I received an e-mail update or two from her, more recently than that.

I found a thread where MRT food testing was mentioned, a couple of years ago, in a quote from an e-mail response from Dr. Lewey, to Dr. Roberts, (Polly), suggesting that he was trying to gather information on the usefulness of that type of testing:

Thanks for the link. Actually Dr. Lewey is now recommending the test. I am considering doing it to help figure out the rest of my intolerances. He also thinks it may help identify foods that are problematic with Oral Allergy Syndome, which I also recently developed. There are some interesting articles by Dr. Lewey on MRT on ezinearticles.com. You need a physician order for the test - if your doctor won't order it then they help find a doctor in your area that will. Also, they say some insurances cover it, like BCBS.

Interesting. Do you know the cost? The web site seems to be secretive about that.

I beleive I read it's somewhere around $600 before insurance. When I get more details I will post it.

I am ordering some continuing education materials from them today (for dietitians). I am curious to read about their program. I have the same feeling about this testing as I did about Enterolab, that's it's legitimate. After reading Dr. Lewy's article it makes alot of sense to me.
